The Challenge
In a recent urgent call, the World Health Organization (WHO) has highlighted that globally, at least 5 patients die every minute because of unsafe care, resulting in 2.6 million deaths annually.

Risk Reduction in a synergetic approach
A number of prevention strategies can be derived and transferred from the aviation industry. Investigations after aircraft incidents and accidents have highlighted the need for gaining a deeper understanding of human error. The results of learnt lessons are encouraging and an overall steady decrease in fatal accidents have been recorded.
